LANES CLOSED ON I-77 NORTH NEAR THE VIRGINIA BORDERThe right two lanes are closed on I-77 North near the Virginia Border near Exit 8 due to a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer. The road is expected to re-open at 5:00 PM. Travelers are advised to use caution while traveling in the area. HEAVY CONGESTION DUE TO THE STATE FAIR IN RALEIGH OCTOBER 16-26Starting Thursday October 16th through Sunday October 26th, motorists should expect heavy congestion on roads in the Raleigh area due to State Fair traffic.Roads expected to be affected include: I-40 and I-440 approaching Wade Avenue, Blue Ridge Road, Edwards Mill Road, Trinity Road, Wade Avenue, NC-54, and Hillsborough Street in the vicinity of the fairgounds. Congestion on these roadways is expected to be at their highest during the evening when special events at the fair draw larger crowds, and on weekends.Motorists not attending the event are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes away from the fairgrounds if possible. 10/23/14, High Point Road A, Special Event, Congestion
The Greensboro Coliseum Complex will be hosting a holiday Symphony Concert which is expected to draw large crowds to the area and surrounding roadways. In anticipation of an increased traffic volume surrounding this event, Coliseum personnel and the Greensboro Police Department will be managing major intersections in the vicinity of the complex. Variable messaging systems located along highways I-40, I-85, and US-29 will be displaying messages to advise motorists with traffic information. The Coliseum Complex, GPD, GDOT and North Carolina DOT advise all patrons to plan to arrive at least 1 hour early and carpooling is strongly encouraged.
