US 136 (NE)


In the U.S. state of Nebraska, U.S. Highway 136 is a highway which goes from U.S. Highway 6 and U.S. Highway 34 near Edison in the west to the Missouri border in the east at Brownville. It is signed as the Heritage Highway in its entirety.

US-136 begins north of Edison at US-6 and US-34. After going through Edison, it turns southeast and at Oxford, intersects Nebraska Highway 46. It continues southeast and meets and overlaps with Nebraska Highway 89 in Orleans. It then turns east and intersects and overlaps with U.S. Highway 183, turning south into Alma. It turns east at Alma, and passes through Republican City before intersecting Nebraska Highway 10 in Franklin. It continues east from Franklin through Riverton and Inavale before meeting U.S. Route 281 in Red Cloud. It continues east, intersecting Nebraska Highway 78 near Guide Rock and turns north at Nebraska Highway 14. After overlapping Highway 14, it turns east and passes through Ruskin before intersecting Nebraska Highway 5 in Deshler. It then continues east to intersect U.S. Route 81 near Hebron.

US-136 continues east from US-81 and after passing through Gilead, it intersects Nebraska Highway 53. It continues east and intersects Nebraska Highway 15 in Fairbury. It turns slightly northeastward and passes through Jansen and Harbine. It then intersects the southern portion of Nebraska Highway 103. It then heads due east before turning north and entering Beatrice. It then turns east and begins an overlap with Nebraska Highway 4 on the west side of Beatrice. In downtown Beatrice, US-136 and NE 4 then meet U.S. Route 77. They continue to overlap until shortly before Filley. It goes northeast through Filley and turns east near Crab Orchard. It then enters Tecumseh and intersects Nebraska Highway 50. It continues east out of Tecumseh and briefly overlaps Nebraska Highway 105 near Johnson. It then passes through Auburn, where it intersects U.S. Route 75. It continues east and overlaps Nebraska Highway 67 before entering Brownville. US-136 then leaves Nebraska to enter Missouri via the Brownville Bridge.

US-136 was originally commissioned in Nebraska in 1960, replacing Nebraska Highway 3.
